Tropical Storm Douglas formed over the eastern North Pacific Ocean on July 1, southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico.

Douglas is forecast to continue generally northward through July 2 before gradually turning northwest and then west as steering currents shift.

Environmental conditions are forecast to become increasingly unfavorable within the next 6 to 12 hours as the cyclone encounters drier mid-level air, stronger vertical wind shear, and cooler sea surface temperatures. Although slight strengthening remains possible in the short term, forecasters expect weakening to begin later on July 2

Douglas is forecast to struggle to maintain organized deep convection during the next 24 to 36 hours and is expected to degenerate into a post-tropical remnant low on July 3 before dissipating over the weekend.
