The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area is highly prone to flooding, with 363 identified flood-prone points, of which 143 are classified as high priority by IMEPLAN. Urban expansion, inadequate drainage systems, encroachment on streams, and loss of natural vegetation have increased hydrological vulnerability in the region.
August is typically Guadalajara’s wettest month, with average precipitation of around 215 mm (8.5 inches).
