Tropical Storm Barbara is forecast to strengthen and develop into the first hurricane of the 2025 eastern Pacific hurricane season on Monday, June 9.
As of 03:00 UTC on Monday morning, the system was located roughly 378 km (235 miles) west-southwest of Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
The system had maximum sustained winds of 105 km/h (65 mph), minimum central pressure of 995 hPa, and was moving WNW at 17 km/h (10 mph).
Barbara is expected to continue moving in the same direction for the next couple of days.

Outer bands of Barbara may bring rainfall of 50 to 100 mm (2 to 4 inches) to coastal portions of the Mexican states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima, and Jalisco through Monday, leading to localized flooding and mudslides.

Swells generated by Barbara are forecast to affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico during the next few days, causing life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
Gusty winds are likely along coastal areas of southwestern Mexico during the next day or so.
