Winter storm warnings issued from Montana to Colorado ahead of late-season winter storm

A late-season winter storm is forecast to deliver up to 60 cm (2 feet) of snow across parts of the Rocky Mountains through April 19, 2025, prompting winter storm alerts from Montana to Colorado. Hazardous driving conditions across the Rockies are expected through late week.

A late-season winter storm is forecast to bring 30–60 cm (1–2 feet) of snow to the Rocky Mountains through April 19, with winter storm watches, warnings, and winter weather advisories in effect from Montana to Colorado.

Light snow accumulations are forecast in the valleys of the Intermountain West and Central High Plains throughout the week.

Snow accumulations of up to 60 cm (2 feet) are forecast in parts of Wyoming through April 18, while much of Colorado is expected to receive 15–30 cm (6–12 inches). Wind gusts between 56–80 km/h (35–50 mph) are also forecast across the region.

Parts of New Mexico and Arizona are expected to begin experiencing the storm’s effects on April 18, with snowfall and notable drops in temperature forecast in some areas.

High temperatures are expected to remain 8–17°C (15–30°F) below average in many of the aforementioned areas through Friday.

According to the Weather Prediction Center (WPC), the storm is rated as having moderate severity on the Winter Storm Severity Index, indicating potential disruptions to daily activities and hazardous travel conditions.
