The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of central and northeastern Nevada, including White Pine County, Northeast Nye County, Northern Nye County, and Eastern Elko County.

Additionally, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for parts of southeast Nevada, covering Lincoln and Clark counties.

This warning is effective from 11:00 to 20:00 PDT on Wednesday, October 16.

The warnings have been issued because of expected winds of 24 – 40 km/h (15 – 25 mph), with gusts reaching up to 64 km/h (40 mph), and relative humidity levels dropping as low as 10%.

These conditions are highly conducive to rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.

Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid activities that could ignite fires.
