Over 30 lives lost as floods and landslides hit Nepal and northern India

More than 30 people have been killed and over 130 homes collapsed after heavy monsoon rains hit parts of northern Inda and Nepal over the past couple of days.

14 Uttar Pradesh districts were affected, with at least 15 casualties. Landslides and floods caused major damage to the state infrastructure, leading to the collapse of at least 133 buildings. The affected districts include Sonabhadra, Chandoli, Firozabad, Unnao, Ambedkar Nagar, Khiri, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Pilibhit, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Mau and Sultanpur. 

At least 6 people were killed in Assam and 1 556 villages had to be evacuated, affecting a total of 869 024 people as of Friday, July 12.

17 people were killed in Nepal, with many people still missing, RT reports.
