Flash flooding developed across San Antonio on May 1 as thunderstorms brought 50–75 mm (2–3 inches) of rain across parts of Bexar County.

The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) said that officers and fire crews saw the male in the water. Fire officials initiated a high-water rescue and recovered his body from the water, the report said.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his identity as well as his cause and manner of death.

SAPD said its investigation is ongoing.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple flash flood warnings as rainfall intensified, with total accumulations across the region forecast to reach 50–100 mm (2–4 inches) with isolated amounts up to 150 mm (6 inches).

Flooding concentrated along low-water crossings and drainage channels, where runoff accumulated rapidly across urban roadways. San Pedro Creek and similar channels carried fast-moving water during peak rainfall, increasing risk in built-up areas.
