Temperatures across the warned region are forecast to fall to between −4°C and −1.5°C (24–29°F), with the lowest values expected in parts of Kentucky and southern Indiana. In southern Illinois, Freeze Warnings will be in effect from 01:00 LT (06:00 UTC) until 09:00 LT (14:00 UTC) on March 28 across multiple areas, including Jackson, Williamson, Saline, Union, and Franklin counties. Forecast minimum temperatures are near −1.5°C (29°F), supporting widespread frost and freeze conditions.
Perry, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Scott, and Wayne counties in Southeast Missouri are forecast to experience freezing temperatures during the same time window, from 01:00 to 09:00 LT (06:00–14:00 UTC) on March 28, with minimum temperatures near −1.5°C (29°F).
All warnings are current at 06:18 LT (11:18 UTC) on March 27.
Frost and freeze conditions associated with this event are expected to damage crops, sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service (NWS) advises taking protective actions, including covering or bringing plants indoors and safeguarding exposed plumbing systems.
