Tropical Storm Fung Wong intensifies, landfall forecast over Luzon, Philippines
Severe Tropical storm Fung Wong intensified over the Philippines Sea on November 7, 2025, and is forecast to make landfall over the Philippines over the weekend.

Severe tropical Fung Wong intensified over the Philippine Sea on November 7, with landfall being forecast over Luzon in the next 2–3 days.
At 09:00 UTC on November 7, the system was located 1 721 km (1 069 miles) east of Manila, Philippines, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC). Maximum sustained wind (averaged over 1 minute) reached 111 km/h (69 mph) and the system was moving westwards at 24 km/h (15 mph), with wave heights of up to 9 m (29 feet).
Satellite imagery shows a compact core with deep convection, with the storm being located in a favorably warm sea.
Fung Wong is forecast to move west-northwestward under the influence of a developing subtropical ridge, and track along its southern periphery over the next three days.
The system is forecast to make landfall just south of Casiguran, Luzon within the by November 9. It would then emerge into the South China Sea and turn north-northward, with a final landfall in southern Taiwan being expected by November 11.
Fung Wong is forecast to rapidly intensify to 212 km/h (132 mph) before landfall in Luzon, then weaken due to land interaction and unfavorable conditions in the South China Sea.

The storm is currently located outside the Philippines’ area of responsibility (PAR), and is expected to enter later on the evening of November 7 or early on November 8. Upon entering, it will be locally named Uwan by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
According to PAGASA’s bulletin issued at 11:00 local time (03:00 UTC), the storm had intensified into a severe tropical storm and was located about 1 315 km (817 miles) east of eastern Visayas. Maximum sustained winds (averaged over 10 minutes) reached 100 km/h (62 mph) with gusts of up to 125 km/h (77 mph). Minimum central pressure was estimated at 980 hPa, and the storm was moving west-northwestward at 20 km/h (12 mph).
The storm is forecast to make landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or the northern parts of Aurora by late November 9 or early November 10, according to PAGASA.
