A bright fireball streaked across the sky over London at around 18:36 UTC on February 26, with more than 131 people reporting sightings. Observations came from Île-de-France, Bretagne, Centre-Val de Loire, England, Hauts-de-France, Normandie, and Wales.

“Purely unexpected, and now trying to recall it retrospectively about 40 minutes later,” said Rachael from England. “It essentially passed between Sirius and the bottom left-hand corner of Orion, if that makes sense. Heading southwest,” she reported, adding that the fireball had an orange hue.

Another observer from England reported that the object broke apart in the sky as it streaked across with a yellow hue. “Smaller parts burned brightly after breaking up,” he said.

Faith G. from Southwick, England, described the fireball as showing hues of orange, yellow, and white. “It fizzled out into small sparks, which then disappeared,” he said.

Ellie from England said the object was a bright white lozenge with orange sparks coming out of it.
