A massive rockfall occurred in China’s Aba Prefecture in Sichuan Province on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Visuals shared on social media platforms show massive dust clouds rising as the rockfall occurs amidst the hills in the prefecture.

There are no reports of damage or injuries.

The event has drawn attention due to its proximity to Wenchuan County — the epicenter of the Sichuan earthquake of 2008 that claimed 20 000 lives and left 40 000 injured.

This region is known for its susceptibility to devastating landslides, particularly following seismic activity or heavy rainfall.
