Tornado-like storm injures 13 and damages dozens of buildings in Kuala Langat, Malaysia
A tornado-like storm struck Kuala Langat District, Selangor, Malaysia, at around 16:15 local time on October 15, 2025, injuring at least 13 people and damaging dozens of buildings. Eleven schoolchildren and two adults sustained injuries as strong winds tore roofs from houses and schools before authorities declared a Level 1 disaster and opened a temporary evacuation center.

A tornado-like storm swept through parts of Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat District, Selangor State, at approximately 16:15 local time on October 15, injuring at least 13 people and damaging multiple buildings.
According to the Kuala Langat District Disaster Management Committee, 11 primary school students from SRA Kampung Medan sustained minor injuries, while a man suffered an eye injury and a woman broke her leg after being struck by flying debris. No fatalities have been reported.
The storm damaged five schools, one community hall (Dewan Wawasan Batu 9 Kampung Medan), and approximately 40 houses. Additional damage occurred in the Sijangkang Jaya industrial area and at the Pejabat Penyelaras DUN Sijangkang office.

Authorities declared a Level 1 disaster in Kampung Medan, Telok Panglima Garang, and activated a Temporary Evacuation Centre (Pusat Pemindahan Sementara, PPS) at Dewan Harmoni Batu 7 Sijangkang. By 20:00 LT, 18 people from eight families had registered at the centre.
Emergency teams from the Fire and Rescue Department, Public Works Department (JKR), and Social Welfare Department were deployed for debris removal, structural inspections, and relief operations.
Residents reported swirling dark clouds and intense localized winds; authorities described the event as tornado-like, pending official confirmation from the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
