A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.1 hit Central East Pacific Rise at 22:38 UTC on March 22, 2020. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
The epicenter was located 1 615 km (1 004 miles) WSW of Puerto Villamil and 1 762 km (1 094 miles) WSW of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, Galapagos, Ecuador.
There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
