The large landslide was caught on a mobile phone camera, in a 31 second video, as below.
Initially, the landslide was considered to be triggered by a very strong and shallow earthquake, registered by the USGS as M7.2 at a depth of 28.7 km (17.9 miles), which hit Tajikistan in central Asia on December 7. Tremors have been felt in North India, Jammu and Kashmir, Ounjab and Uttar Pradesh.

However, later investigations showed the landslide was not caused by the earthquake, after all, and no known trigger has been reported yet.
