Tornado damages 20 homes in Columbia, Mississippi
A damaging tornado swept through Columbia town in Marion County, Mississippi on Wednesday, February 12, 2o25, downing more than 70 power poles, and leaving around 100 customers without power.

An EF-0 tornado swept through the town of Columbia, Mississippi, from 16:07 to 16:10 local time (LT) on February 12, 2025, damaging homes and businesses and downing more than 70 power poles.
The tornado had estimated peak winds of 53 km/h (85 mph), a maximum width of 64 m (70 yards), and was on the ground for 3.1 km (1.95 miles).
At least 20 homes sustained damage but there were no injuries reported, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Approximately 100 customers in the area lost power due to the storm.
Another EF-0 tornado touched down in De Soto in Clarke County, Mississippi, 130 km (80 miles) NNE of Columbia. The tornado was on the ground for 3 minutes and had estimated peak winds of 50 km/h (80 mph).
The tornado traveled 2 km (1.28 miles) with a maximum width of 46 m (50 yards), causing no reported injuries.

Communities in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama were placed under Tornado Watches through the late evening due to the threat of rotating supercells.
A particularly dangerous Tornado Warning was issued for communities around Thomasville, Alabama, where radar detected significant debris lofted more than 4 570 m (15 000 feet) into the air.
