A bright meteor was observed over Dallas, Texas at 03:32 UTC on Friday, June 22, 2024.
A bright meteor was observed at 22:32 CDT on June 21 (03:32 UTC on June 22) by numerous eyewitnesses in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. Of them, 71 reported their sighting to the American Meteor Society (AMS).

An analysis of these accounts shows that the meteor was first sighted 87 km (54 miles) above the Texas town of Malakoff, moving to the northwest at 93 300 km/h (58 000 mph). It traveled 98 km (61 miles) through the upper atmosphere in just 3.8 seconds, finally disintegrating 58 km (36 miles) over Everglade Park in Dallas near I-30.
The object producing the fireball was too small and too fast to have generated any meteorites, NASA’s Meteor Watch said.
