Remnants of Chinese Chang Zheng 2F rocket re-enter the atmosphere over the Mediterranean Sea

A wide number of eyewitnesses in Spain observed a series of fireballs crossing the night sky over the Mediterranean Sea between 22:30 and 22:32 UTC on June 20, 2022.
The phenomenon was produced by remnants of the Chinese Chang Zheng 2F rocket re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere over the Atlantic Ocean and moving NE across northern Morocco and over the Mediterranean Sea.
Fireballs generated by fragments of the rocket had their final location between the coasts of Algeria and Spain.
The event has been recorded and analyzed in the framework of the SMART project (Southwestern Europe Meteor Network, SWEMN).
