Deep M6.7 earthquake hits near Kamchatka

A deep earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.7 hit near Kamchatka, Russia at 11:10 UTC on October 13, 2018. The agency is reporting a depth of 470.1 km (292 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.7 at a depth of 469 km (291 miles).
According to the USGS, the epicenter was located 262 (162.8 miles) NW of Ozernovskiy (population 2 615), 337 km (210 miles) W of Yelizovo (population 40 692), Russia.
There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
Some 32 000 people are estimated to have felt weak shaking.
Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, PTWC said.
The USGS issued a green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
Overall, the population in this region resides in structures that are resistant to earthquake shaking, though vulnerable structures exist. The predominant vulnerable building types are adobe block and unreinforced brick with mud construction.
