A long duration C3 class solar flare erupted from Active Region 11577 peaking at 23:55 UTC September 27, 2012. The flare has produced a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) which is expected to impact the Earth’s magnetic field sometime late September 29, 2012. Proton levels are rising and an S1 Minor Radiation storm is now in progress.

ALERT: Proton Event 10MeV Integral Flux exceeded 10pfu
Begin Time: 2012 Sep 28 0300 UTC
NOAA Scale: S1 – Minor
Potential Impacts: Radio – Minor impacts on polar HF (high frequency) radio propagation resulting in fades at lower frequencies.
