Popocatépetl awakening again

During the past 24 hours the monitoring system of the Popocatepetl volcano recorded 11 low-intensity exhalations accompanied by steam, gas and some ash. There were also segments of harmonic tremor, accumulating approximately 5 minutes. Other monitoring parameters remain without important changes. At the time of this report is zero visibility due to cloud cover. This morning was observed partially.

The light volcanic alert remains in YELLOW phase 2. It keeps the likelihood of the following scenarios: moderate exhalations, some with ash emissions, sporadic bursts of low to moderate probability of emission of incandescent fragments within walking distance of the crater and incandescent light in the crater of the volcano at night observable.

Recommendations:

1. Continue with the radius of 12 km up, so stay in that area is not allowed.

2. Maintain controlled traffic between Santiago and San Pedro Nexapa Xalitzintla via Paso de Cortes.

3. A Civil Protection authorities, maintain preventive procedures, according to their operational plans.
