Mud volcano eruption reported in Baratang, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India
A new mud volcano eruption was reported at approximately 23:00 local time (LT) on Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India.

According to local media reports, a new mud volcano started erupting in Rajatgrah, Baratang Island at around 23:00 LT on Friday.
The eruption started with a loud noise, prompting residents to inspect the forest near Khata Gadi village, where they discovered the mud volcano and alerted the forest department.
Some villagers also reported seeing a fire near the site of the new eruption.
The eruption has so far released approximately 5 000 m³ (16 405 feet3) of mud, which spread across the surrounding area.
The event poses minimal risk to residents, as the eruption site is located about 2 km (1.2 miles) from the nearest village.
