Destructive waves hit Tenerife, Canary Islands

A severe storm produced spectacular waves across the Canary Islands over the weekend, especially on the northern coast of Tenerife where dozens of people have been evacuated from their homes.
The waves kept crashing into buildings late November 17 into 18, reaching as high as 3rd floor of one apartment building block in Mesa del Mar. The storm smashed restaurant windows and swept cars into the sea.

Mesa del Mar mayor said 65 apartments, some of which are holiday homes, were evacuated.
39 people were evacuated from two buildings in Garachico, NW Tenerife, one of the worst affected areas.
Parts of Malaga were also hit by heavy downpours with Mijas, Ojen and Coin all badly affected.
While the streets of Marbella turned into rivers, Playa Hotel in Las Chapas area was struck by a lightning which set parts of it on fire.
