Several tornadoes have struck the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy on May 3, 2013. A strong and violent tornado hit Bentivoglio and Argelato villages, between Bologna and Modena in the afternoon local time, injuring 11 people and damaging several houses. Some houses were completely destroyed.

The municipalities most affected appear to be Castelfranco Emilia, Mirandola, Bentivoglio and Argelato areas already severely put to the test by the earthquake of May 2012.

The whirlwind sowed damage and debris in the area between Bologna, Modena and Ferrara. Firefighters and civil protection are evaluating the impact of the tornado, which hit about a hundred homes and several sheds, now uninhabitable. In the province of Modena fury of wind also uprooted some trees. Numerous fields were damaged by the strong storms and the harvest could be ruined.
