    A strong earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.2 hit the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul, Turkey, at 09:49 UTC (12:49 local time) on April 23, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).  Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and EMSC are reporting the same magnitude and depth.
