Strong explosions with volcanic lightning at Sakurajima, Japan

Strong explosions accompanied by volcanic lightning were registered at Sakurajima volcano, Japan at 10:30 UTC on December 3, 2022.

According to Tokyo VAAC, volcanic ash reached 1.8 km (6 000 feet) above sea level.
