Lake-effect snow causes whiteout conditions near Buffalo, New York
Heavy lake-snow effect snow has created near-whiteout conditions across Buffalo, New York, on January 13 and 14, 2025. Dangerous travel conditions, strong winds, and snow-packed roads have severely impacted traffic along Interstate 90 with plows struggling to keep up with the intense snowfall rates.
The Buffalo region is experiencing treacherous weather as lake-effect snow continues to blanket the area.
Interstate 90 has reduced visibility and snow-packed roads making travel hazardous. Strong winds are causing blowing and drifting snow further increasing whiteout conditions.
A Lake-Effect Snow Warning remains in effect with the heaviest snowfall expected to persist through midweek. Snow plows have been deployed to clear the accumulation but conditions remain challenging for drivers.
