Severe flash floods hit Turkey’s Izmir, turning streets into raging rivers
Heavy rainfall caused severe flash floods in western Turkey on May 29, 2017, especially in the city of Izmir in Izmir Province whose streets quickly turned into raging rivers.
Floodwaters flooded numerous houses, destroyed city's infrastructure and swept away a large number of vehicles. At one point, the depth of the water reached 1 meter (3.3 feet). Luckily, only one person was injured. There are no reports of casualties.
Further south in the province of Muğla, also affected by heavy rainfall, one person lost its life after being struck by a lightning. The flooding was also reported in the province of Balikesir.

1) think of the pollutants caught up in the floods and washed into our dying oceans. Anyone coming into contact with the flood water risks infection
2) many of the cars being washed away took out power poles.
3) I’ve been to Izmir, these areas are reasonably well off, the low lying poorer areas will be decimated more.
4) These are not Dr. James E. Hansen’s ‘Storms of our grandchildren’, they are minor in comparison to what is in the pipeline baring down on us.
