At least 5 dead after Mexican Navy plane crashes in Galveston amid foggy conditions
Five people, including a two-year-old child, were killed after a Mexican Navy plane crashed near Galveston, Texas, amid foggy conditions on Monday, December 22, 2025, while transporting medical patients. At least one person remains missing, with search operations and the investigation continuing.

A small Mexican Navy plane carrying eight people crashed off the coast of Galveston, Texas, on Monday, December 22. Five occupants were confirmed dead, two people were rescued, while one remains missing.
The aircraft, King Air ANX-1209, belonging to the Mexican Navy, was on a medical support mission as part of “Plan Marina” in coordination with the Michou and Mau Foundation.
It was carrying four naval officers and four civilians when it crashed at around 15:17 local time (LT). Of the four naval officers, three have been confirmed dead, while the fourth remains missing and is presumed dead. Meanwhile, among the civilians, a two-year-old patient and a doctor were killed.
A dive team, crime scene unit, drone unit, and patrols were at the scene Monday night, said Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
Conditions at the time of the crash were foggy, with near-zero visibility. However, the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) reported that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been called in.
