A large avalanche struck Utah just outside of Salt Lake City on Saturday, January 4 forcing the closure of the SR-210 highway, while a winter storm swept through much of the country.
Heavy snow had already been affecting the areas due to heavy snow with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) saying that vehicles had already been struggling with the weather conditions and slide-offs on the SR-190 and SR-210 with the traffic having been brought to a complete stop in both Canyons/Wasatch.
The highway was re-opened later on the same day after the avalanche mitigation and road operations were completed.
