An intense tornado touch down in central Florida, US

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado touch down event in Coconut Creek, Florida. The twister swept the area on January 27, 2016, according to media reports. Two people sustained injuries.

An intense storm brought heavy rainfalls and produced a tornado a few kilometers inland from the Florida's Atlantic coast, between Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale.
The largest damage was inflicted upon the area of Broward College where cars were flipped over and tossed in the air while several rooftops were torn off the local houses. In the nearby neighborhood, a twister knocked over a truck and uprooted numerous trees.

Severe storm and flood warnings have been put in place throughout January 28.
