An intense storm brought heavy rainfalls and produced a tornado a few kilometers inland from the Florida's Atlantic coast, between Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale.

The largest damage was inflicted upon the area of Broward College where cars were flipped over and tossed in the air while several rooftops were torn off the local houses. In the nearby neighborhood, a twister knocked over a truck and uprooted numerous trees.

Severe storm and flood warnings have been put in place throughout January 28.
