Strong M6.1 earthquake hits Alaska, U.S.

A strong earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.1 hit Alaska at 06:59 UTC on May 31, 2021, at a depth of 58.2 km (36 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth. 

The epicenter was located 76.2 km (47.3 miles) N of Chickaloon (population 272), 128.3 km (79.7 miles) NE of Knik-Fairview (population 14 923), Alaska, U.S.

There are about 3 000 people living within 100 km (62 miles).

The quake was followed by M3.1 at 07:08 UTC, M2.9 at 07:13, M2.5 at 07:17, M2.5 at 07:19, and M3.3 at 07:23 UTC.
