Falling Danube shuts two reactor units at Paks nuclear plant, output falls to 25%, Hungary
Hungary’s Paks Nuclear Power Plant was producing about 25% of its 2 000 MW capacity on August 1, 2026, after falling Danube levels led to the shutdown of Units 1 and 3. The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (OAH) said the production reductions and shutdowns had no negative effect on nuclear safety or the environment.
