Strong and shallow M6.7 earthquake hits northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge
A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS and EMSC as M6.7 struck the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 12:16 UTC on March 21, 2026, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).

The epicenter was located 1 794 km (1 114 miles) ENE of Beauséjour, Guadeloupe, and 1 795 km (1 115 miles) ENE of Codrington, Antigua and Barbuda.
There is no tsunami threat from this earthquake. The National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) said the event is not expected to generate a tsunami based on historical records and earthquake parameters.
The USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage. There are likely to be no affected structures in this region.
