Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for an incoming low-pressure system set to impact Alaska starting Tuesday.

15 – 25 cm (6 – 10 inches) of snow is expected over Thompson Pass through Tuesday. Winds of up to 72 km/h (45 mph), coupled with blowing snow, will make travel conditions difficult as visibility drops to 800 m (0.5 miles) or less.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for the area from 12:00 LT on Tuesday to 00:00 LT on Wednesday, December 4.

Freezing rain and trace amounts to a glaze of snow are expected over Susitna Valley, Anchorage, and the Western Kenai Peninsula during the next couple of days.

The Winter Weather Advisory will remain in effect over Susitna Valley from 15:00 LT on Tuesday to 03:00 LT on Thursday, December 5. For Anchorage, the advisory will remain in effect from 06:00 LT on Tuesday to 03:00 LT on Wednesday, December 4.
