Shallow M6.0 earthquake hits east of the South Sandwich Islands

A shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.0 hit east of the South Sandwich Islands at 05:48 UTC on October 26, 2021. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude and depth.
The epicenter was located about 2 357 km (1 464 miles) S of Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, Saint Helena, and 3 174 km (1 972 miles) ENE of Ushuaia, Argentina.
There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
