A shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.6 hit central Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 06:51 UTC on September 6, 2020. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
The epicenter was located 1 213 km (752 miles) NNE of Acarau, Brazil.
There are no people living within 100 km (6.2 miles).
A damaging tsunami is not expected.
