A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.3 hit east of the South Sandwich Islands at 20:52 UTC on November 5, 2019. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). The quake comes 3 days after M6.1 earthquake 106 km (66 miles) NNE of Zavodovski Island.
The epicenter was located about 880 km (545 miles) SSW of Bouvet Island and 1 020 km (630 miles) E of Saunders Island.
There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
There are no tsunami warnings, watches, or advisories in effect.
