A strong and shallow M6.3 (USGS) earthquake hit under the Drake Passage (Sea of Hoces) at 06:54 UTC on October 29, 2018. The agency is reporting a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.3 at a depth of 40 km (25 miles).
The epicenter was located 313 km (195 miles) SSE of Ushuaia, Argentina and 553 km (343 miles) SSE of Punta Arenas, Chile.
There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
Some 62 000 people are estimated to have felt weak shaking.
