The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the U.S. Coast Guard rescued 11 people after their boat capsized near Fort Myers Beach. At least two of the people were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

The incident was reported after the pontoon boat overturned at around 14:10 local time (LT) on March 24. LCSO marine deputies reached the site within three minutes of the report.

The rescue was conducted with the help of multiple civilians in the area. The boat reportedly overturned due to a large wave and high winds. The overturned boat was towed away, said LCSO.
