Asteroid designated 2019 JX1 flew past Earth at 0.46 LD / 0.00120 AU (179 517 km / 111 546 miles) on May 2, 2019. This is the 21st known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year.
2019 JX1 belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed at Palomar Mountain (ZTF), California on May 3, one day after it made its close approach to Earth.
Its estimated diameter is between 3.8 and 8.6 m (11.8 – 28.2 feet) and it flew past us at 12:39 UTC at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 14.53 km/s.
