Several meteor-like objects survived their passage through the Earth's atmosphere and landed near the city of Peermade in the Indian state of Kerala on October 18, 2016.

District Collector G.R. Gokul said for The Hindu that the image of the objects from Peermade he received was 'similar to meteoroids.'

"However, the image was not of a rock," he said adding that people were advised against coming in contact with the objects.

Peermade police cordoned off the area.

The Geological Survey of India will examine the objects today, Gokul said.
