Heavy rains have caused another round of severe flooding in northeastern Turkey on July 22, 2021. The event comes just a week after six people were killed and two others went missing in the Black Sea province of Rize.

The new round hit the neighboring province of Artvin, overturning vehicles and destroying roads and homes.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said around 200 people have been evacuated after the Arhavi River overflowed in the district of Arhavi due to heavy rain. The district center and village roads in the province have been badly affected, cutting off access to dozens of villages.

Six people trapped in the Arhavi district and 9 in Murgul district were rescued and taken to safe areas.

One person was rescued from the rubble in Arhavi and was taken to a hospital in good condition, AFAD report said.
