M 5.5 earthquake hit northern Iran

Earthquake M 5.5 hit northern Iran on November 7, 2012 at 06:26:33 UTC according to USGS. The epicenter was located 40 km (24 miles) W of Ahar and 51 km (31 miles) NNE of Tabriz, Iran (38.472°N, 46.613°E), the same area that was struck by deadly M 6.3 earthquake on August 11, 2012.  The depth of epicenter was at 10 km (6.2 miles).

USGS issued Yellow alert level for shaking-related fatalities.

 

EMSC registered M 5.4 at depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), while Iranian Seismological Center recorded M 5.1.
