Glacial lake outburst in Pakhtunkhwa province of northern Pakistan
Glacial lake outburst flood caused extensive damage in northern Pakistan on July 10, 2019.
The flood took place in Chitral district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on July 7, 2019, causing immense damage to the affected region.
There have been no deaths reported but many roads and five bridges have been destroyed, cutting off the area from other parts of the district.
A similar glacial lake outburst flood occurred in Chitral in 2015, affecting 300 000 people and leaving 3 people dead.
Rainfall linked with thunderstorms is forecast on regions of Chitral July 10, 2019, or July 11, 2019.
