Sudden strong rainfall leaves 7 dead, 4 missing in Guangdong’s Shenzhen, southern China

At least 7 people died and 4 are still missing after a sudden strong rainfall hit the city of Shenzhen, southern China's Guangdong Province late Thursday, April 11, 2019, sweeping away a number of riverway workers. 

People caught up in the flood were dredging workers who had been cleaning drainage systems in Luohu and Futian districts, South China Morning Post reported, adding that 12 staff in Luohu were cleaning an underground drainage pipe at 21:40 LT when floodwaters rushed in.

The district committees posted details of the incidents and subsequent search and rescue efforts on social media on Friday morning.
