Strong tidal waves in Thailand
Strong tidal wave and powerful downpour struck the coast of city Pattaya, Thailand. On March 15th sea withdraw from the coast of Pattaya leaving the ships at the pier laying on the bottom. Squally winds brings stormy weather and strong tide to residents. Residents are afraid of significant deterioration in next two days. The island Koh Samui was also it by bad weather. The coastal restaurants and riviera was overflowed by tidal waves. This could be triggered by so called “Supermoon” that brings stornger tides and also, could be due to strong winds that cause the sea rising and strong waves. (nr2)
The westerly trough and the strong high pressure area from China have moved to northern and northeastern Thailand. During 16-18 March, thunderstorm and gust occurs over the whole country and the wind-waves in the lower Gulf of Thailand from Surat Thani southwards grow stronger is likely 2-3 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution. Minimum temperature 17-19 °C. Maximum temperature 25-28 °C. Northeasterly winds 10-30 km/hr.
