Red Flag Warning issued as Bay Area prepares for fire weather conditions, California
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Red Flag Warning for the San Francisco Bay Area, California due to fire weather, effective from 22:00 LT on Thursday, October 16, 2024, to 17:00 LT on Saturday, October 19.
The NWS has issued a Red Flag warning for dry and windy conditions in the Bay Area from Thursday night to Saturday evening, indicating a high danger of wildfires spreading rapidly.
The alert was issued due to winds ranging from 40 to 56 km/h (25 to 35 mph), with isolated gusts reaching 104 km/h (65 mph) in higher terrains.
Forecasters predict that the North Bay inner mountains, the East Bay hills, the Diablo Range, and the San Francisco Peninsula will have unusually windy and low humidity conditions.

The forecasters also predict that the Bay Area could experience a drizzle leading to a little moisture in the atmosphere but it is expected to move across the region on Wednesday, October 16.
Large waves could possibly sweep across the shores of the coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National Seashore, the San Francisco Peninsula coast, northern and southern Monterey Bay, and the Big Sur coast by 20:00 LT on Wednesday.
