Bright fireball over Arkansas, U.S.

A bright fireball streaked through the night sky over Arkansas, U.S at around 01:09 UTC on October 20, 2021 (20:09 LT, October 19).

The American Meteor Society (AMS) received 59 reports1 from users in Arkansan, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Alabama.

"These reports have been combined with data from 3 publicly accessible cameras to derive a trajectory, which has a starting location of 98 km (61 miles) above the town of Waldron in western Arkansas," NASA Meteor Watch said.2

The meteor moved slightly east of south at 151 280 km (94 000 mph), traveling some 72 km (45 miles) before fragmenting 46 km (29 miles) above Yocana.
