A deadly tornado swept through Danzhou in China's Hainan Province early Thursday morning (LT), August 29, 2019, killing at least 8 people and seriously injuring 1.
According to official reports, the tornado struck Nada town in Danzhou city at around 03:00 BJT.
CCTV said dormitories for workers collapsed at two construction sites, killing eight people. One person was seriously injured and another slightly hurt. Both were sent to a hospital.
This is the second deadly tornado to struck China since July 3 when 6 people died and 190 got injured in the city of Kaiyuan, northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Experts at the Liaoning provincial weather bureau said at the time they are studying the cause of the tornado, which is rare in the region.
