Severe weather, including heavy rain and strong winds, has been affecting Israel and Palestine over the past few days, causing casualties and damages.

Two people have been killed by flash floods, one in Mamshit Stream, Negev desert (Southern District/Israel) and one in Bethlehem (West Bank/Palestine), local media reported.

In addition, at least 12 people have been injured in Kfar Hanokdim in Arad (Southern District) where intense hailstorm surprised residents.

Major flooding has been reported through the streets of all major cities and waters in the commercial hub of Tel Aviv rose to knee height in a matter of minutes, witnesses said.

Pedestrians who sought shelter inside shops soon found themselves inundated and exposed wires caused electricity to short circuit.

Severe weather is expected to continue affecting the region over the next two days.

The Israel Meteorological Service has issued a warning for thunderstorms and flash floods across the region for April 26, including in already affected areas.
